A heat-dome centered over New Mexico will ensure impact heat persists through the weekend into next week.

However, beneath the heat dome, a recharge of monsoon moisture allows for new rounds of thunderstorms.

That abundant atmospheric moisture will not only make it feel muggy, but it will also provide a good chance for pockets of heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

Always avoid arroyos, ditches, and water-covered roads.
