Green Jellÿ has found itself in the middle of a messy public controversy. The drama comes after the death of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne on July 22, 2025, and a social media post that many fans found distasteful.
Shortly after Ozzy‘s passing, an AI-generated meme appeared on Green Jellÿ‘s official social media channels showing Ozzy holding a sign that read “One Day Sober.” The image quickly sparked backlash online. Bill Manspeaker, Green Jellÿ founder and only constant member, claims he removed the post as soon as he saw it. However, instead of the situation ending there, tensions exploded — both publicly and behind the scenes.
According to Manspeaker, the post was not his doing but that of longtime Green Jellÿ collaborator Michael “Fr33to F33t” Snyder. Snyder, who had admin access to the band’s social media accounts, allegedly posted the meme without consulting Manspeaker. While Manspeaker says Snyder had handled Green Jellÿ‘s meme-heavy social media presence “for years” and often posted humorous content, the Ozzy meme crossed a line for him.
“Long story short… I allowed a green jello member control of my green jello page… He’s been doing a excellent job posting funny memes for years… Recently he posted a extremely rude video about Ozzy Dying that I found highly offensive & I immediately took it down…the guy lost his mind & instantly started to demonize me on Facebook… Now it’s gotten beyond the point of non stop harassment,” Manspeaker wrote in a public statement issued August 2.
The drama escalated when alleged internal band text conversations were leaked online. In them, Manspeaker appears to initially express concern over the Ozzy meme but also reportedly encouraged Snyder to remain with the band. Over time, however, the relationship soured. In a YouTube recap from Staunch TV (which you can check out below), further allegations emerged of Snyder mocking Manspeaker in videos, making threats, and ramping up public criticism.
Manspeaker‘s public statement also painted a picture of a strained working relationship. He claimed Snyder had only played “maybe 10 shows in 10 years,” didn’t plug in his bass during performances, and seemed more interested in getting selfies on stage than contributing musically. “Everything was fine until the moment I take down his distasteful meme about Ozzys death…Now it’s turned into let’s try to cancel out Bill Manspeaker & all the nice things he’s ever done for people,” Manspeaker said.
While defending his actions, Manspeaker stressed that the heart of the matter was about showing respect for Ozzy‘s legacy. “This person decided to defame Ozzy with a terrible joke about his death on my green jello social media page & I removed it…ask yourself 1 thing—who is the real issue…the guy who has no respect for a man’s death and mocked Ozzy or the guy who immediately took it down because it was disrespectful?” he wrote.
The bandleader also revealed that Snyder is now “one of the extremely few that’s been officially fired from Green Jellÿ.” He encouraged fans who support him to share positive stories about their experiences with him online, particularly in response to the YouTube video circulating about the dispute.
This controversy has been unfolding just as Green Jellÿ is preparing for a major tour. The group recently announced they will headline the 2025 Psycho Sideshow tour, joined by 96 Bitter Beings (featuring former CKY members), The Convalescence, The Bunny The Bear, and Ignominious. Each date will also feature local support acts. Get your tickets here.
