A large grass fire in Chaves County has closed State Road 2 from Lake Arthur to the Eddy County line until further notice.According to a spokesperson for the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office, the fire broke out along State Road 2 near mile post 6. The fire has forced fire crews to close off the highway.KOAT is working to see how many acres have been burned in this fire. There is no containment at this time.
