Funnel cloud spotted near Gallup on Wednesday morning
MCKINLEY COUNTY, N.M. —
As the city of Gallup cleans up and prepares for more possible rain showers, another weather event happened on Wednesday morning near the city.
A viewer sent video to KOAT showing a funnel forming along Interstate 40 about 20 miles east of Gallup.
KOAT 7 Weather Chief Meteorologist Byron Morton says the funnel is likely a tropical-like funnel.
The National Weather Service says these types of funnels form in moisture-rich environments.
