ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Families in Albuquerque came together to celebrate Halloween at the third annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by Albuquerque Community Safety, enjoying costumes and candy.
When we asked 7 year old AJ Apodaca asked what his favorite part of the event was he said , “To see costumes and get candy.”
Among the attendees was a family dressed as Peter Pan, with one-year-old Chloe dressed as Tinkerbell.
“This is her second Halloween but first time dressing up and going trick or treating,” Chloe’s family said. “We live in the neighborhood and wanted to come support.”
The event also featured family dogs in costumes, SWAT officers, and “bad guys” riding together. When asked if the officers had pulled anyone over during the event, they replied, “No.”
Earlier in the day, a local grower showcased a massive pumpkin weighing over 1,000 pounds.
Allen Clark, a seasoned pumpkin grower, shared his excitement about his latest achievement.
“So this one is 1,056 pounds. Is this your biggest pumpkin? Yes. This is a personal record as well as a new New Mexico record. I broke my own record that I had set last year of 1,010 pounds,” Clark said.
The pumpkin, named Mayfield, holds a special meaning for Clark, as it was named after his beloved German shepherd who passed away over the summer. Mayfield had always kept watch in the garden.
The event concluded with families creating cherished Halloween memories.
