FROZEN SOUL Emerge With New Album No Place Of Warmth, New Single Drops Feat. MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE’s GERARD WAY

Date:

Dallas’ ferocious death metal/hardcore unit Frozen Soul are back with their third full-length, No Place of Warmth, arriving May 8 via Century Media.

Vocalist Chad Green explains the concept behind the title track, seemingly randomly featuring My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way: “No Place of Warmth is about life at its coldest and the choice you have to let it consume you, or to use it to find warmth in a world that feels void of it. Life is always coming at you, and death doesn’t stop – you might slow it down, but it’s always coming – so you have to make the best out of it and march on.”

The accompanying video, directed by Brendan McGowen and starring London Smith as Death and Stephanie McReynolds, brings the song’s vision to life. Green adds, “The lead character attempts to keep her dagger with rosary beads away from Death, as a stand to say we won’t be afraid of what’s coming and we will live happy with the memories and experiences of our time here.”

Green describes the album as “a more menacing version of the band hellbent on shock and awe and maximal minimalism,” delivering eleven concise, punishing tracks with hooks that hit as hard as the riffs.

The record also showcases collaborations with Devin Swank (Sanguisugabogg) and Robb Flynn (Machine Head), adding diverse textures without overshadowing Frozen Soul‘s core ferocity. “Anytime we have features, it’s with friends and bands that we love and respect… Gerard, Rob and Devin all added their own unique styles and love into the songs and really helped bring them to life,” Green says.

Recording took place over six weeks at Random Awesome Studios in Midland, MI, with producer Josh Schroeder. Working from a near blank slate, the band wrote and refined tracks day and night, emphasizing instinct and raw energy over overproduction. Green reflects: “We took this opportunity to change and try new things… we immediately started catching our groove.”

Pre-orders are available here. Frozen Soul will also hit the road with Avatar and Fleshgod Apocalypse this April. Get your tickets here.
