Frijoles Fire crew member dies after medical emergency
A support crew member assigned to the Frijoles Fire has died after suffering a medical emergency, officials said on Sunday evening.
Officials say emergency personnel responded immediately to the medical incident on Aug. 23 and transported the crew member to a local hospital.
Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency medical responders, the person did not survive, according to California Interagency Incident Management Team 8.
“Our hearts are with the family, friends, coworkers and all those affected by this tragic loss,” Incident Commander Mike Page said. “Every person supporting the Frijoles Fire is an important part of our team. We are grieving alongside our fire family and will do everything we can to support those impacted.”
Officials have not released the crew member’s identity or additional details about the medical emergency.
The incident management team is asking the public for privacy of the crew member’s family, friends and coworkers as they grieve.
