Extreme heat and isolated flash floods possible today

Heat alerts and scattered storms possible for several days

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.

Heat takes over once again today as high pressure settles in. Be sure to stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks if you work outdoors. Expect highs in the triple digits for a lot of areas where heat advisories are in place. There’s a Heat Advisory in effect today for Albuquerque from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. including the Eastern plains, Central, and Northwest as well. Highs across the Albuquerque metro push towards 100 degrees; 93 for Santa Fe. Scattered thunderstorms and rain showers with possible isolated flash floods this afternoon into the overnight hours. Flash Flood watches are in place for western, central and northeastern New Mexico.
