
An explosion and fire at a Staten Island shipyard injured at least 16 people Friday afternoon, according to officials.The New York City Fire Department responded to a report of workers trapped at the shipyard at around 3:30 p.m., ABC7 reported. There was also reportedly a corresponding fire in the basement of a metal structure in the back of the shipping docks.The explosion happened at 4:20 p.m.Of the 16 injured, one civilian and two firefighters suffered serious injuries.The cause of the fire and the explosion is unknown at this point.This is a developing story.
