Evacuations ordered for Zuni Pueblo due to flash flooding
ZUNI, N.M. —
Evacuations have been ordered for parts of the Zuni Pueblo due to emergency conditions and flash flooding in the area.
According to the Zuni Pueblo, all residents of the following areas are advised to evacuate immediately:
- St. Anthony
- Old Gallup Road
- Chavez Circle
- State Highway 53 Corridor
Those who are evacuated can go to the Zuni Community Center. The Pueblo of Zuni is also asking all community members to stay home and avoid all unnecessary travel until further notice.
They advise that for your safety, please remain indoors and do not leave your home unless it is emergency or you have been instructed to evacuate by emergency personnel. Staying off the roads allows first responders and emergency crews to safely respond to flooding and other emergency situations.
A flash flood warning remains in effect for the Zuni Pueblo until 5:45 p.m.
