Evacuations issued for Lincoln County due to flooding

A flash flood emergency has been issued for Lincoln County until 7:30 p.m. and evacuations are now being issued.
Emergency management reported the Rio Bonito between Hondo and Lincoln has exceeded its banks, which has prompted the closure of US Highway 380 at mile marker 103. Residents in the area are asked to move to higher ground immediately and stay away from rivers and streams.
Evacuations are being performed from Lincoln to the US Highway 380 and 70 intersection.
A flooding evacuation shelter was opened at Hondo Valley Public Schools located at 111 Don Pablo Lane Hondo, NM 88336.
Anyone needing to evacuate due to flooding or reunify with family members may report to the shelter.
