[1] Pacific Fusion opening manufacturing facility in Los Lunas – Another New Mexico community is set to play a part in a billion-dollar company’s move to Albuquerque. Pacific Fusion says it will set up a manufacturing site in Los Lunas to build components needed for its planned facility at Mesa Del Sol. The Albuquerque facility is expected to help develop power-generating technology, creating energy in the same was as the sun. Village of Los Lunas leaders say the manufacturing site will go up in Los Moros Park.

[2] Crews respond to fire at Hinkle Family Fun Center in Albuquerque – According to Albuquerque Fire Rescue, crews were sent to Hinkle Family Fun Center just before 2 a.m. Tuesday after a fire alarm went off. AFR says crews arrived on scene and reported seeing heavy smoke. Officials say crews were able to bring the fire under control within 25 minutes. No injuries to any civilians or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

[3] Gradually drying out with warmer weather for now – Shower and storm chances will continue into the middle of the week, bringing flooding threats each day through Wednesday. Drier weather starts moving in through the end of the week. This will bring back plenty of sunshine along with mild temperatures through Friday.

[4] Southwest Colorado braces for more rain and flooding – After major flooding over the weekend, southern Colorado is bracing for more rain. Footage from Monday afternoon shows the San Juan River in Pagosa Springs, and while the Springs Resort said the high water levels dropped throughout the day, just two days ago flood waters submerged the area. Around 100 homes were damaged, and the rushing waters called for eleven swift water rescues. In Pagosa Springs, a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for Hermosa and San Juan Streets, and all public parks in the downtown area are closed until further notice.

[5] ‘Cuddle a Canine’ returns to the University of New Mexico – As UNM staff and students gear up for the last half of the semester, the ‘Cuddle a Canine’ event is making a comeback to help cope with stress. It offers the university a chance to relax and connect with therapy dogs alongside their dedicated owners from the Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers. The event is on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the cactus garden outside Zimmerman Library.
