Drier and hotter conditions this weekend

Date:

Storms will again develop along the central mountain chain and the northern mountains early this afternoon. These storms will move to the east, northeast into the afternoon and evening. High temperatures will be up to near and above average for this time of year.

Even drier air will move into New Mexico Saturday. A couple spotty showers will develop across the peaks of the northern mountains. High temperatures will be above average statewide. Some monsoon moisture will start moving back into the state Sunday, bringing a spotty storm chance to parts of southern New Mexico. Temperatures will stay hot.

More monsoon moisture will stream into the state early next week, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the western half of New Mexico. Eastern New Mexico will stay mostly dry.
