New Mexico is set to honor the queen of country music at this year’s 102nd Burning of Zozobra with a tribute to Dolly Parton.

Organizers with the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe will pay tribute to the global icon by playing a remixed version of her classic hit “Jolene” during the annual beach ball song, a tradition where thousands of beach balls are released into the crowd.

According to Parton, the pulsating, electronic “Jolene Destructo Remix” was her favorite version of the song.

The Zozobra event will take place at Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe on Friday, Sept. 4.

If you can’t make it, the burning of Old Man Gloom will be broadcast live only on KOAT 7.
