Did Jelly Roll + Bunnie Xo Have a Prenup?

Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo are currently in the midst of dividing up their assets and debts as they navigate their divorce.

Initial filings submitted by Jelly on May 18 suggest a “Marital Dissolution Agreement that provides for an equitable division of the parties’ assets and apportions responsibility for payment of the parties’ debts.”

On a Dumb Blonde podcast episode about the divorce, Bunnie said that the details are basically all figured out — even if they can’t put an official stamp on the paperwork until the end of Tennessee’s mandatory “cooling off” period.

“We’re literally settling our divorce, we’ve done it in, like, three weeks? Two weeks?” Bunnie said.

It’s pretty common for celebrity couples to figure out asset divisions with help from a prenuptial agreement signed before they tied the knot — but did Jelly and Bunnie ever sign a prenup?

Did Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo Sign a Prenup?

Maybe not.

The couple seemed to tie the knot spontaneously in August 2016, when Jelly proposed to her onstage in Las Vegas. At the time, Jelly and Bunnie had only been a couple for about a month.

They made it official that same night in a little chapel. Bunnie shared some video footage a couple years back, and based on their outfits, it looks like they basically went from the show where he proposed to the wedding ceremony.

It’s unlikely that they stopped to create and sign a prenup in between the proposal and the wedding.

“If we’re assuming this was as spontaneous and quick as we believe it is, I think you’re right to assume that there was probably no prenuptial agreement,” says legal expert Amber Candelaria, who is not representing either party and spoke to Taste of Country about Jelly and Bunnie’s divorce.

Bunnie has said that when they first got serious in the summer of 2016, Jelly wanted to talk big-picture stuff, like her five-year plan. She’s never said they signed paperwork, though of course, they could have chosen to do so and keep it private.

Don’t forget that Jelly and Bunnie were not the superstars they are today back in 2016. Jelly was a touring musician, and Bunnie was a successful upscale sex worker, but it wouldn’t be until late 2021 that Jelly would truly break out in country music. He’s even said that he didn’t have so much as a place to live when he and Bunnie met, and that she offered the financial help he needed to gain custody of his daughter, Bailee.

Though it doesn’t seem likely that they signed a prenup before they took vows, it’s completely possible that Jelly and Bunnie signed a postnuptial agreement at some point after they were already husband and wife.

How Are Jelly Roll + Bunnie Xo Dividing Up Their Assets?

Candelaria says that celebrity divorces between couples who haven’t signed a prenup can be breeding grounds for “quite a bit of fighting, depending on how those assets are structured or their value.”

“Assuming they’re still working as best friends in that asset division, hopefully they will continue to work mutually together,” she says of Jelly and Bunnie.

On her podcast, Bunnie said that Jelly planned to give her the “dream home” — a compound of houses on a large tract of land — as part of the divorce, “because he knows how special it is to me.” She also said that all the couple’s farm animals, including mini-cows, donkeys and pigs, will be coming with her to that property.

“I joke around with him, I’m like, ‘You didn’t take care of me in the marriage, but you’re taking care of me in the divorce,'” Bunnie said. “…I’m allowed to say that because it’s true. It’s true.”

Jelly and Bunnie have both emphasized that they’re ending their marriage as best friends, as well as future co-parents. The couple planned to have a baby together before divorce, and they still intend to follow through on that dream.
