David Allan Coe’s Kids Seeking Unpaid Support From His Estate

Date:

David Allan Coe‘s biological children are seeking child and family support from his estate.

In a group statement posted to his Facebook, they say those costs he owed them are “long-overdue” and “unpaid.”

  • David Allan Coe died in April 2026. He was 86 years old.
  • He was a prominent figure of the outlaw country movement in the ’70s, but also drew significant criticism, especially for the racist music he released in the early ’80s.
  • Coe also had a complicated relationship with his kids, from many of whom he was estranged.
  • Two of those children, Tyler Mahan Coe and Tanya Montana Coe, elaborated on that after his death. Tyler described his dad as “a difficult person to be close with,” while Tanya said that she found out Coe had died via the Internet and she wasn’t given the chance to say goodbye.

In addition to revealing their own filings, the Coe children are offering others in the music business a chance to file for any financial debts the singer left unpaid during his life. They posted instructions and a timeline for filing for anyone who still has unsettled financial partnerships with the late country star.

Why Are David Allan Coe’s Children Seeking Family and Child Support From His Estate?

According to their social media statement, Coe’s descendants are hoping to prioritize “transparency and family honor” in their legal filings.

The family says that some people have “attacked us for holding him accountable to the family obligation he walked away from during his life,” but that their actions are about restoring a longstanding injustice.

“Thank you for helping us stand for what is right and ensuring people get what is legally due to them,” the statement concludes.

How Many Biological Children Did David Allan Coe Have?

Coe was prone to exaggeration on some of the details of his personal life, and it’s difficult to verify all the facts of the details. He was married six times, but not all the details about his wives — or exactly how all his kids fit into the family tree — are known.

Eight children are listed as surviving descendants in the legal documents. So is Kimberly Coe, the singer’s wife of 16 years at the time of his death.
