Crash in Tolleson leaves man dead, closes roadway



The crash happened near 83rd Avenue and Van Buren Street, Tolleson police said.

TOLLESON, Ariz. — A crash in Tolleson ended with a pedestrian dead early Tuesday morning, city police announced.

Officers were called to the area of 83rd Avenue and Van Buren Street for reports that a man crossing the roadway had been struck by a vehicle.

First responders arrived and pronounced the man, who hasn’t been identified at this time, dead on the scene.

The driver stayed on scene, and police don’t believe impairment or speed caused the crash.

Drivers in the area are encouraged to avoid the area as 83rd Avenue south of Van Buren Street will be closed for some time for the investigation.
