American metal stalwarts Corrosion of Conformity are gearing up to release their long-awaited double album, Good God / Baad Man, on April 3, 2026, via Nuclear Blast. The sprawling release marks a new chapter for the band following both tragedy and transformation in their storied career.
After the release of 2018’s No Cross No Crown, the classic lineup of Pepper Keenan, Woody Weatherman, Reed Mullin, and Mike Dean had cemented their legacy as heavy metal innovators, with a career spanning more than four decades from their Raleigh, NC punk roots in 1982. Landmark albums such as Eye for an Eye, Animosity, Blind, and Deliverance laid the foundation for a two-generation fanbase that spans punk, metal, and rock.
Tragedy struck in January 2020 with the passing of drummer Reed Mullin, followed by bassist Mike Dean amicably leaving the band. Corrosion of Conformity regrouped with Pepper Keenan and Woody Weatherman, hunkering down in Mississippi, drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Discharge, ZZ Top, Motörhead, Neil Young, and Black Sabbath. The result is a massive double album with a bold concept: Good God / Baad Man.
“As we went on, we had such a crazy plethora of songs, it was almost like two different directions,” Pepper Keenan says. “We knew we had to split it into two different albums… Good God leans toward the heavier/pissed end of the spectrum. Baad Man is more on the throwdown rock scope. Each album is its own tiny universe.”
Joining Keenan and Weatherman are drummer Stanton Moore, who previously played on 2005’s In the Arms of God, and bassist Bobby “Rock” Landgraf, known for his work with Down and Honky. Keenan emphasizes that many of the tracks were crafted in tribute to Mullin: “With a lot of these songs, we’re trying to make Reed Mullin proud. He was a badass, and a one-of-a-kind drummer. The stakes were high.”
The first single, “Gimme Some Moore,” features backing vocals from Ministry‘s Al Jourgensen and Madonna guitarist Monte Pittman, and channels the reckless energy of C.O.C.‘s teenage years. Keenan explains: “Me and Woody wanted to write a song as if we were 17 years old again… We even made a seven-inch for it.”
The seven-inch, released during their recent Mexico/South America tour, is a nostalgic punk throwback, complete with a black-and-white photo collage and a Fear cover on the flipside. The accompanying video for “Gimme Some Moore” was directed by Keenan and shot by Mike Holderbeast.
Produced by Grammy-winning Warren Riker (Fugees, Down, Cathedral) and featuring cover art by renowned New Orleans artist Scott Guion, Good God / Baad Man was recorded across Blak Shak Studios in Riffissippi, Dockside Studios in Louisiana, and Bee Gee Barry Gibb‘s home studio in Miami, Florida.
