Catherine O’Hara’s cause of death has been revealed, just over a week after the actress died.According to reports, O’Hara died from a pulmonary embolism with an underlying cause of rectal cancer. O’Hara died on Jan. 30, 2026, at 71 years old at her home in Los Angeles “following a brief illness,” according to a statement from her agency, Creative Artists Agency.O’Hara was best known as Macaulay Culkin’s mother in two “Home Alone” movies and won an Emmy as matriarch Moira Rose in “Schitt’s Creek.”She also starred in Tim Burton’s 1988 “Beetlejuice,” and the 2024 sequel, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”
