Deputies say suspect is a repeat offender faces multiple charges

Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies were led on a high-speed stolen car chase that ended with a PIT maneuver, bringing the suspect and the SUV he was driving to a sudden stop.It was all captured on the video shown here.It began at a gas station near Rio Bravo and Broadway, where a masked man with a rifle got out of a truck and demanded that a man getting gas hand over his SUV. Soon after, BCSO deputies spotted the SUV and the truck at a home near Wallace Street. That’s when the suspect, Matthew Hunter, drove away in the SUV at a high speed with the BCSO vehicle on his tail.The deputies were able to pull alongside the SUV and execute a Pursuit Intervention Technique, or PIT maneuver, where the officer uses the front corner of their vehicle, causing the fleeing suspect’s vehicle to spin.Hunter, a repeat offender, was arrested and faces charges including aggravated assault of an officer, aggravated fleeing an officer, receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle, armed robbery, and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer..
