
A man is in custody after an extended standoff Saturday in Santa Fe.A Santa Fe police spokesperson says the incident occurred at a home on Joshua Lane. Police received calls stating that Elder Omar Mencos-Yax had fired multiple shots from a handgun and had threatened at least one person.According to police, an emergency alert was issued just after 12 a.m. Saturday. Several members of the Special Operations Unit arrived at the scene and took Mencos-Yax into custody around 5:40 a.m.Mencos-Yax has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at a dwelling or occupied building, negligent use of a deadly weapon and resisting, obstructing and evading an officer. He’s being held at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
