Albuquerque Public Schools is now implementing a clear bag policy for its athletics department. The district states that their events are strictly about safety first. Because of their focus on safety, they have decided to implement a clear bag policy for all athletics events for the 2025-2026 school year. The policy will start on Aug. 17 with next week’s season-opening contest in all sports. The policy will apply to all APS athletics venues, including stadiums, school fields and gyms. Non-sports events at those sites will also be affected. District personnel and signage will also advise any spectators coming to APS games that only a clear bag/clutch will be allowed at stadiums, fields and gyms. Diaper bags must also be clear. If a bag is turned away, it must be returned to the guest’s vehicle. APS advises that the types of bags that are acceptable include: Bags that are clear, plastic, vinyl, or PVC, or a one-gallon clear plastic zipper-style freezer bag. Some prohibited items include: purses that are not clear, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, drawstring bags, luggage of any kind, and computer bags. The policy will extend to middle school athletic events as well.Action 7 News On The Go: Download our app for free
