YOU KNOW, DOZENS WERE SPEAKING OUT AT THE FRONT GATES AT KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON, CALLING THE U.S. ISRAELI AIR STRIKES AN ILLEGAL ATTACK ON IRAN. MANY OF THEM WERE HOLDING SIGNS SAYING HANDS OFF IRAN AND STOP THE WAR IN IRAN. THEY SAY THE ATTACKS WERE UNPROVOKED AND WILL CAUSE DESTRUCTION AND LOSS OF LIFE. THE PROTESTERS ALSO WORRIED ABOUT CIVILIAN CASUALTIES IN IRAN. THEY SAY THEY ARE FED UP WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP’S FOREIGN POLICY. WE SPOKE WITH A FEW PROTESTERS. TAKE A LISTEN. WE WILL SPEND BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN THIS UNPROVOKED AND NEEDLESS WAR, WHEN THERE ARE PEOPLE STARVING AND DYING IN OUR OWN STREETS, PEOPLE WHO CAN’T AFFORD HEALTH CARE AND HOUSING. TRUMP SAID HE WASN’T GOING TO GO TO WAR AND BE INVOLVED IN FOREIGN WARS. AND HOW MANY WARS HAVE WE HAD IN COUNTRIES THAT HAVE INVADED AND TAKEN OVER? YOU KNOW, THE TRUTH HAS GOT TO BE GOTTEN OUT THERE SOMEHOW. AND THERE WERE TWO ORGANIZED GROUPS OUTSIDE KIRTLAND, AS WELL AS OTHERS WHO JUST CAME TO PROTEST. THE TWO GROUPS IDENTIFYING THEMSELVES TONIGHT AS STOP THE WAR MACHINE AND PRAY FOR SOCIALISM AND LIBERATION. Police are on alert and prepared for a protest scheduled to have begun at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kirtland Airforce Base Truman Gate on Gibson Road, an Albuquerque Police Department news release said.The demonstration, which was advertised on social media, was organized by the Stop the War Machine group, which held a vigil protest at noon. A STWM news release said they were planning “an emergency protest to our military that this illegal war for Israel on Iran must stop.”APD’s southeast and University area commands have been made aware of the likelihood of protestors in the area and the postential need for traffic control.
