Albuquerque police arrest suspect in 2025 murder case
Albuquerque police arrested Andrew Armijo in connection with the 2025 murder of Edrick Miller, following surveillance video evidence and an investigation.
The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) arrested a man Sunday, July 19, involved in a murder case back in 2025. Police said Andrew Armijo (27) was charged three days ago for the death of Edrick Miller.
Officers say Armijo shot and killed Miller on May 1, 2025, after surveillance video showed Armijo riding a BMX bicycle and shooting Miller, who was sitting on a sidewalk west of 7800 Central Avenue in southeast Albuquerque. Police say that Armijo in the video then gets away on the chrome bike heading south on Dallas Street immediately after the shooting.
APD says detectives tracked down the owner of the bike and arrested them on April 30, 2025, a day before the murder. The department said video from the arrest showed another man who took possession of the BMX bicycle and a black backpack that the murder suspect had with him the next day. Detectives say Armijo was the person who took possession of the bike and backpack, and was seen shooting Miller the next day.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Armijo on July 16, 2026 which charged him with an open count of murder and tampering with evidence. He was arrested Sunday by an officer who saw him passed out with drug paraphernalia in the 10100 block of Central Ave., S.E. The officer discovered the murder warrant and arrested him.
Armijo will be booked into the Metro Detention Center.
