Mini holiday market in Northeast Albuquerque on Saturday
With Christmas just a week away, Upside Goods Company in Albuquerque is hosting a mini holiday market this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring 16 local businesses.Ashley Fathergill, the owner of Upside Goods, said the holiday season for small businesses can be crucial for their success in the coming year. “Being a local business in Albuquerque is amazing and hard all at the same time,” she said. “Especially for a business like us, because none of our materials are unfortunately sourced here. But it’s so lovely on the other side because the community in Albuquerque, I always say it’s one of the best places to start a small business because everybody knows one another.”The market will include an artist, crafted cocktail kits, gift-wrapped books, jewelry, food trucks, and therapy dogs. “It’s a true gamut for anybody that you might be shopping for. So, it’s not just going to be for the ladies or for the men,” said Fathergill. “There’s something for everyone that you can be checking off the list.”Fathergill started selling candles in 2020. She said a portion of their profits supports mental health awareness organizations, helping young men and women access therapy for the first time. “Everybody loves having a candle in their room or their home in space. We really wanted to make cleaner ingredient products that are safe for not only pets but humans alike,” she said. “I’m a consumer myself at the end of the day. And yes, it’s quite easy to add to cart, pick up, somebody drops it in your car, that sort of thing. But all of these items and all of these vendors that are going to be here, they have truly had their hands on the item from start to finish.” The market is free and located at 3700 Osuna RD.
