CURRY COUNTY, N.M. —
A man is in jail after his wife was found dead in a field Friday in Curry County.
According to the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call from a man who said he found his wife in a field near the 800 block of Curry Road U. The woman, identified as 36-year-old Anna Ulibarri, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say an investigation into Ulibarri’s death revealed that she and her husband, 39-year-old Jon Quezada, stayed at a hotel on Mabry Drive in Clovis. Around 3 a.m. on Friday, Ulibarri called the front desk and asked for security.
A spokesperson for the Curry County Sheriff’s Office says Quezada confronted Ulibarri in the lobby, threatened her and ordered her to leave the building. Police say Quezada then allegedly beat Ulibarri, forced her into a vehicle and left the hotel.
Quezada has been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a firearm or device. He is being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center.
