Towson University reports shooting, issues shelter-in-place alert
Police in Baltimore County, Maryland, are investigating a shooting that has left a man injured Sunday evening and the Towson University campus on alert.
According to police, officers are investigating a shooting in the 8000 block of York Road. A man was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. Authorities are asking people to avoid the area.
A shelter-in-place alert was issued Sunday night campuswide at Towson University, advising of an emergency situation in which everyone on campus was advised to shelter in place and close windows and doors.
Towson Public Safety sent an alert to the campus community at 7:20 p.m. reporting a shooting at 8013 York Road.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the university sent an email notice to community members, saying a shooting investigation was underway at the Cardiff Hall Apartments, and there was police activity in the area amid a search for suspect(s).
The university reported additional police activity on campus near Osler Drive that was related to the shooting.
No further information was immediately released.
