Light earthquake shakes Socorro County

A magnitude 2.6 earthquake struck Socorro County on Sunday morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake with an epicenter about 9 miles east of the city of Socorro at about 9:30 a.m.
It had a depth of 3.1 miles.

Two similarly sized earthquakes were reported in nearby Valencia County in August.
Socorro County was also the site of flooding leading to road closures during last week’s storms.
