Passenger who went overboard from Carnival Cruise ship identified as father of 3
A passenger who went overboard from a Carnival Cruise ship off the coast of Mexico on Friday has been identified as a 56-year-old father of three, according to media reports.
The man, identified as Thomas Gigler, was reportedly sailing aboard the Carnival Panorama with his wife and their three sons when he went overboard, prompting a search by the U.S. Coast Guard.
It is not known how Gigler ended up off the ship and in the water. The search for Gigler remains ongoing, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
“Carnival is providing support to the family who was traveling with the guest, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones,” the cruise line said in a statement.
The ship was sailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to Long Beach, California.
