Mora County crews conduct water rescue

On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the Mora County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from other responding agencies, responded to a water rescue on County Road A005, also known as Monte Aplanado Road, in Mora County.
Officials say both individuals were successfully rescued without incident.
Mora County deputies want to remind the public: DO NOT attempt to cross flooded roadways. Even as floodwaters begin to recede, roadways may remain hazardous due to debris, mud, erosion, washouts, and other hazards that may not be immediately visible.
If conditions are getting worse, move to higher ground immediately and stay there until it is safe.
Please do not put yourself, your passengers, or first responders at unnecessary risk. TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN. Please continue to use extreme caution while traveling throughout Mora County and avoid any roadway that is flooded or appears unsafe.
