APD arrests man for murdering his son

APD has arrested a man responsible for the killing of his son.
Mark Leib, 64, is accused of fatally shooting his son, Matthew Leib, 34, around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday at their home located at 6221 Sabre Ct., N.W., which is west of 4th St.
Matthew Leib was with his girlfriend and another friend in his home when Mark Leib returned home from work, threatening to kill someone.
Matthew’s girlfriend initially got Mark to go into his bedroom and she shut the door. He then exited the bedroom armed with a shotgun.
The girlfriend said she tried pushing Mark Leib into the bathroom, but he kicked the door open and grabbed her shirt with one hand while armed with the gun in the other hand. She said she punched him in the chin, and he punched her in the face and threatened to kill her.
Matthew’s girlfriend and friend left the house in separate vehicles. When they returned to look for Matthew, Mark Leib exited the house and said that he killed his son.
A neighbor called 911 and deputies from BCSO responded. APD officers arrived shortly afterward. Matthew Leib died at the scene.
Mark Leib is charged with an open count of murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
