Albuquerque man becomes oldest to fly with a wingsuit
The 74-year-old New Mexican took flight after beating cancer, aiming to become the oldest person to skydive in a wingsuit.

New Mexican Rich Greenwood, 74, became the oldest wingsuit skydiver last weekend in an attempt to break the current Guinness World Record.
Greenwood has been jumping out of planes for more than 50 years, and said skydiving was a passion he’d pursued for most of his life.
“I read in a magazine that the oldest person to fly in a wingsuit was 67 years old, and I’m thinking, I’ve been flying wingsuits on and off for 30 years, I’m 74 years old, I’m going to show this young whippersnapper a thing or two,” Greenwood said.
Greenwood took a break from skydiving back in 2016 due to a cancer diagnosis. After beating the disease and entering retirement, he’s happy to have more time doing the thing he loves doing the most.
“You don’t quit skydiving because you get old. You get old because you quit skydiving,” said a defiant Greenwood.
Greenwood’s attempt at the Guinness World Record is pending ratification.
