Vehicle hits and kills pedestrian in northeast Albuquerque

Northbound Wyoming Blvd is closed at Constitution Ave due to a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.

Northbound Wyoming Boulevard has reopened at Constitution Avenue in northeast Albuquerque after a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

Police say officers responded to the intersection early Monday morning for a report of vehicle striking a pedestrian.

Through investigation it was discovered that a silver Ford Focus was traveling north on northbound Wyoming in the center lane. The driver approached the intersection and began to go through the light as it turned yellow.

They then noticed a pedestrian step in front of their vehicle in the north crosswalk, traveling east from the median. Evidence from the scene showed that the pedestrian was crossing from a red light.

There were no signs of impairment from the driver. Officers tried to render aid to the pedestrian, but the female died from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been revealed.

The APD Fatal Crash team is investigating the incident.
