The NFL announced that Packers running back Josh Jacobs is on the Commissioner Exempt List, meaning he cannot practice or play.

“Josh Jacobs has been placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, which is an administrative procedure used by the NFL while a matter is being reviewed. It is not a final determination. Josh respects the NFL process, the Packers, and his coaches and teammates. He looks forward to his return to the team and the NFL,” Jacobs’ lawyers said in a statement.

Jacobs was arrested in May as part of a domestic violence investigation, records show. He was accused of strangulation, damage to property and domestic abuse.

Brown County prosecutors filed charges against the 28-year-old on Thursday. He faces battery and criminal damage to property, both Class A misdemeanors.

Jacobs has denied the allegations.
