Thousands of cans of popular wet dog food are being recalled nationwide amid concerns that the products may contain metal.

Fromm Family Foods is recalling 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet canned dog food and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo’s Meatloaf Pâté Wet canned dog food, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Officials say the dog food may be contaminated with metal, which could cause choking, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy or stomach discomfort.

To date, there have been no reports of illness or injury related to the recalled products.

There are no other Fromm products affected by this recall, FDA officials said. The recall was initiated after the company received complaints about possible metal contamination.

Consumers who purchased Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet Dog Food or Fromm Diner Classics Milo’s Meatloaf Pâté Wet Dog Food with a Best By date of 032029 are urged to return the product to their retailer.

If your dog is experiencing any symptoms after consuming the product, contact your veterinarian.

Fromm wet dog foods include pâtés, stews, gravy entrées, and recipes using proteins such as chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, salmon, duck, and venison. Fromm says its wet foods are made in small batches at its family-owned Wisconsin facility.

It is predominantly sold through independent, neighborhood pet-specialty stores—Fromm states that its products are sold exclusively through that channel—rather than major grocery or big-box retailers.
