NMSP investigating early morning fatal crash on I-25

New Mexico State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on I-25 and Avenida Cesar Chavez.
At approximately 2:14 a.m. on August 19, NMSP took over a fatal vehicle-pedestrian crash on southbound Interstate 25 near Avenida Cesar Chavez.
The initial investigation indicates a pedestrian was crossing the interstate when they were struck by a southbound vehicle.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Southbound I-25 was temporarily closed while officers investigated the crash but has since re-opened.
