TIMBERON, N.M. —
A boil water advisory remains in effect for residents in Timberon after E. coli bacteria were discovered in the water supply on Friday, Aug. 14. Residents are asked to boil their water for at least three minutes, then let it cool before using.
According to a post on the Timberon Water and Sanitation District website, staff workers spent the weekend attempting to disinfect affected areas in the town’s distribution system.
On Monday, initial test results showed no signs of E. coli bacteria. However, officials decided to extend the boil water advisory to allow further monitoring of the distribution system.
Residents are urged to continue using bottled or boiled water for drinking, washing dishes or food preparation until further notice.
Town officials hope the water issue will be resolved by Friday, Aug. 21.
