Scotty McCreery‘s 3-year-old son, Avery, has apparently decided that watching his dad perform from backstage isn’t quite good enough.
The country star says there’s one question Avery asks him before every show, every single time he is out on the road with his dad.
Scotty McCreery’s Son Avery Has One Question for Daddy Before Every Show
McCreery was a guest on Taste of Country Nights, and I asked him about the recent viral video of his son, Avery, singing with his dad on stage at a show.
It turns out that if Avery had it his way, he would come out on stage every single night.
McCreery told me, “When he’s on the road on the bus, it’s the first thing that he asks me when he wakes up, ‘Dad, can I come on stage?'”
McCreery says that’s become a bit of a routine for his son. In fact, the last thing Avery says to his dad before McCreery takes the stage at night is that same question: “Can I go on stage with you?”
And honestly, McCreery doesn’t seem to mind one bit. He says his son is “a ham” and “he loves it.”
The “Damn Strait” singer says he loves seeing how much his son enjoys being around the music and the excitement of his shows.
“He loves it. He’s a ham,” McCreery says.

Avery is still just 3 years old, but he’s already showing plenty of personality. And if his repeated requests are any indication, he’s also not exactly shy about letting Dad know when he wants a little more stage time.
For McCreery, it’s a pretty sweet glimpse into the future. Avery gets to watch his dad do what he loves, and apparently, he’d like to be right there beside him.
McCreery also told me that his son has a mini drum set at home and that when he plays it, it’s “complete chaos,” but his son loves when the whole family gets together to watch him.
So far, Dad hasn’t handed over the microphone permanently. But considering Avery’s persistence, it might only be a matter of time before he’s asking for his own spot in the setlist.
Scotty McCreery’s Latest Album
Scotty McCreery’s latest album is simply called 15. McCreery has been doing this country music thing for 15 years now, and his new album is a pretty good excuse to look back at how far he’s come.
15 is a retrospective album that mixes some of McCreery’s biggest hits with four brand-new songs. It was released July 17, 2026, marking 15 years since he first became a household name on American Idol.
