Workshop attempts to educate first-time homebuyers

“First timers are always a little bit jittery when they come into the market, want to buy that home of their dreams,” said Chad Krieger, vice-president of mortgage lending at US Eagle Federal Credit Union.

Owning a home is still the ultimate dream for most people. For those who have not taken that step, local real estate agents held a first-time homebuyer workshop designed to help would-be homeowners learn the ins and outs of buying a home.

“First-timers are always a little bit jittery when they come into the market, want to buy that home of their dreams,” said Chad Krieger, vice-president of mortgage lending at US Eagle Federal Credit Union. “We want to help them with that first step.”

The goal of Saturday’s workshop was to show that buying a home isn’t as intimidating as it seems.

“It’s always a big step, but have confidence,” Krieger said. “The reality is it’s really about the four Cs of lending – it’s about credit, it’s about capacity, it’s about the collateral, and then overall it’s about capital.”
