Heat Advisory issued once again for the Albuquerque Metro, some relief in sight later this week.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

After another warm and dry morning around the state, temperatures will crank right back up well into the 90s and even triple digits in spots later this afternoon – hot enough for another round of Heat Advisories to be issued for Albuquerque and Central New Mexico, and also for the Espanola Valley and areas up around Farmington. In addition to the heat, we will be watching for isolated gusty thundershowers to develop with Central, Western and Northern New Mexico most favored for the scattered to isolated storm coverage, however it doesn’t look like much will be able to develop in and around the immediate Farmington area.
Tuesday could be a couple degrees less hot, but overall the heat won’t ease much yet tomorrow, and storm coverage is still looking scattered to isolated, favoring the same areas as today – the central, west and north. There should be a little more of a temperature drop coming for Wednesday afternoon around much of the state, not for the southeast though, but Wednesday could also bring a bit of an uptick in rain and storm coverage in generally the same areas that have had the storms around…the central, west and north with a better chance finally arriving to Farmington and Northwest New Mexico.
Storm chances for Thursday and Friday are looking higher again, and by this time we will start to have higher concerns about locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding where the storms do hit. We will also be watching for high temperatures to drop well down into the 80s and lower 90s around much of the state, numbers much close to mid-August averages. Eyeing up the weekend, storm chances will probably be sticking around even though it may not be as active as Thursday and Friday, and weekend temperatures will still probably be in the 80s and 90s, no return of the extreme/impact heat is expected.
