Three people were killed, and another was hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday morning in Caswell County, North Carolina, according to the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded just before 8 a.m. to 352 Brooks Road in the Prospect Hill community.

Sheriff Tony Durden said four adults were shot. Three victims died at the scene, while a fourth person was taken to a hospital. The condition of the hospitalized victim has not been released.

Authorities said the suspected shooter is also dead.

Investigators said everyone involved was an adult and all of the victims were members of the same family.

Durden said all of the deceased died from gunshot wounds.

Officials have not classified the case as a domestic violence incident but confirmed the shooting was confined to the home on Brooks Road, and there is no threat to the public.

The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Investigators spent Wednesday processing the crime scene, conducting interviews and notifying victims’ families.

When asked whether law enforcement had previously responded to calls involving the family, Durden said investigators do not have evidence that family members had previously reached out to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation remains in its early stages, and authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Durden asked the community to keep the victims’ family in their prayers.
