A big shift in the state’s energy business just occurred.
New Mexico Gas company is set to be sold for $1.25 billion to Saturn Utilities Holdco, LLC, a private equity company in Louisiana.
As part of the sale, all base rates will be frozen through January 2028, and the buyer will also invest $10 million in economic development through low-income assistance programs and charities.
The decision comes a day after a public comment hearing on Blackstone’s proposed acquisition of PNM’s parent company.
