Cleanup underway on Albuquerque roads after monsoon storms
City of Albuquerque crews are cleaning up debris from roads following recent monsoon storms
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
The City of Albuquerque’s Department of Municipal Development is continuing cleanup operations after heavy rainfall left streets covered with water, sand and debris.
Parts of Albuquerque received more than an inch of rain during Friday evening’s storm, prompting the department to deploy street sweepers and Vactor trucks over the weekend and throughout the week. The specialized trucks are used to clear storm drains and sewer lines, helping reduce flooding risks and improve drainage.
City crews have worked steadily to remove debris from roadways and prepare infrastructure for the possibility of additional storms.
According to the department, maintenance crews remain on alert around the clock and are prepared to respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
