Why Stella Lefty Wrote ‘I Like It When You’re Nice to Me’ Lyrics

Date:

Stella Lefty‘s song “Boston” has taken on a life of it’s own since it’s release, climbing up to the top of the country and all-genre music charts at the same time.

There is one line in the chorus of the song that has raised some eyebrows with women especially — “I like it when you’re nice to me.”

Women usually will flood the comments section of posts about Lefty’s song saying that they love it, but that a man should always be nice to you, or you shouldn’t be with him.

Knowing this, Lefty was more than prepared to answer my question on Taste of Country Nights about the lyrics in question.

“I feel like, for me, I’ve always been attracted to the push and pull… I feel like so many people are. There’s something that really grabs you when someone doesn’t treat you so great, which is actually a terrible thing.”

She continued, “So I feel like when I met Vincent [Mason] it was the first time that I felt like I wanted the PDA, it’s such a different dynamic when someone is actually good to you and treats you well and I wasn’t used to it. I was like ‘wow… I like it. It doesn’t always happen. Not everybody is so great and kind.'”

Lefty goes on to admit that “It is funny. I love the dialogue of how that’s the bare minimum. But you know what? It doesn’t always happen. Not everybody is so great and kind when you’re in a relationship with them.”
