Man who brutally attacked 8-year-old girl at restaurant sentenced

The man who was accused of smashing a beer bottle over an 8-year-old girl’s head and slashing her throat has now been sentenced.
Nichalas San Souci attacked an 8-year-old girl at Saggio’s near UNM in April 2025. The girl miraculously survived but had to get 19 stitches.
Back in March, San Souci pleaded guilty to first- and third-degree child abuse. He has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
In his statement in court Tuesday, San Souci apologized to the victim and her family and said that while it’s not an excuse, he was on drugs and not in his right mind and would accept even the harshest sentencing.
His prison sentence will be followed by three years of probation.
