The Second Judicial District Court is warning the public about fraudulent text messages that are targeting the families of incarcerated individuals.

The fraudulent messages request money in exchange for a family member’s release from custody or an ankle monitor.

The courts also advise the public that they will never request payment of any kind in exchange for a person’s release from custody. Please do not respond to the messages or send money. Any official correspondence from the courts is sent through the mail.

If something does not seem right, you should contact the Second Judicial District Court at 505-841-8400 to verify. You can also visit seconddistrict.nmcourts.gov for up-to-date information.
