Recall roundup: Dozens of popular everyday items have been recalled nationwide

Dozens of everyday products sold across the United States have been recalled over the past two weeks, affecting everything from food and pet products to household items and outdoor equipment.

Federal safety agencies have issued a steady stream of alerts warning consumers about potential health and safety hazards, including contamination, undeclared allergens, choking risks, fire hazards and defective products.

Many of the recalls involve items found in kitchens, garages and medicine cabinets, while others affect products used by children and pets.

Below is a roundup of some of the most significant nationwide recalls announced in recent days by the Food and Drug Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

FOOD ITEMS RECALLED

  • Potato chips | The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has classified an ongoing recall of nearly 685,000 bags of popular potato chips as a Class I recall related to potential salmonella contamination. A Class I designation is for “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” according to the FDA. The recall applies to Utz Quality Foods for certain limited varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips. Click here to learn more.
  • Alfredo sauce | Federal health officials have issued a recall for alfredo sauce distributed to dozens of U.S. states by a supplier because of potential salmonella contamination. The Coffee Connexion Co. Inc., based in Lebanon, Tennessee, voluntarily recalled the sauce, the FDA said. Click here to learn more.
  • Mac and cheese | BEF Foods, Inc. has voluntarily recalled its Park St. Deli Macaroni & Cheese due to the undeclared presence of soy lecithin, a major allergen. According to the recall notice, 58,405 cases — equal to 525,645 individual packages — are affected and were distributed to Aldi stores nationwide. The refrigerated pasta dish comes in a 20-ounce plastic tub inside a paperboard sleeve. Click here to learn more.
  • Sausage patties and nuggets | Two frozen plant-based sausage products are being voluntarily recalled by MorningStar Farms due to the possibility of plastic pieces in the food. The recall includes certain varieties of Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties, officials say. Click here to learn more.
  • Chicken sausage | Chicken sausage sold at Costco has been recalled because some packages may contain pork sausage due to a packing error, according to a letter sent to affected customers. The recalled Jones Dairy Farm Chicken Sausage Links have a use-by date of April 29, 2027, according to the company. Click here to learn more.
  • Baby formula | Nara Organics recalled its organic baby formula sold nationwide in Target stores and online Saturday after a multistate outbreak of infant botulism, federal authorities said. Three babies between 2 and 5 months became ill in April and May in California, Pennsylvania and Washington after consuming Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Powdered infant formula, which is also sold on Nara.com, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.   • Popular dog food | Officials with the Food and Drug Administration announced last week that Pedigree recalled two lots of canned wet dog food. The recalled products are 13.2-ounce cans of Pedigree Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor from lot codes 613C3KKCFC and 613C1KKCFC. Click here to learn more.

EVERYDAY ITEMS RECALLED

  • Target baby wipes | After packages of baby wipes sold under Target’s “Up & Up” brand were recalled early last month, the recall classification has been elevated to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s most severe level. Click here to learn more.
  • High-end shampoo | A high-end shampoo has been voluntarily recalled due to the detection of a bacteria that can cause infection in people with certain health issues. Kao USA is recalling select lots of its Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo in the sizes 8.5 oz and 33.8 oz in the U.S. and Canada due to the detection of Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria.   • Cuisinart gas grills | More than 12,000 Cuisinart gas grills have been recalled for laceration injury risk. A notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recall was issued for the Cuisinart Propel+ Four Burner 3-in-1 Gas Grill, which features a griddle, stovetop burner and a pizza oven.   • Air conditioners | More than 13,000 Amana-brand air conditioning units have been recalled due to defects that pose “a risk of fire or burn injury to customers,” according to a report from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall involves about 13,500 window-room-air-conditioners and through-the-wall air conditioners or heat pumps. Click here to learn more.

MEDICATIONS RECALLED

  • Antidepressants | Thousands of bottles of the antidepressant duloxetine have been recalled over elevated levels of an impurity suspected of causing cancer. The recall concerns the presence of N-nitroso-duloxetine, a type of compounds called nitrosamines that are common in cured and grilled meats, dairy and vegetables and are found in some medications.   • Blood pressure medication | More than 11,000 bottles of blood pressure medication have been recalled because they may be ineffective.According to a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall impacts 25 mg doses of Chlorthalidone. Click here to learn more.
  • Power tools | More than 500,000 yard power tools sold at Lowe’s have been recalled over concerns about fire hazard risks. According to a notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Greenworks Tools issued the recall for 554,780 Kobalt yard power tools, including trimmers, blowers, mowers, chainsaws and pruning saws that use 24V Kobalt-branded batteries with a USB-C charging port.   • Eye drops | The Food and Drug Administration has issued a Class II recall — the agency’s second-highest recall classification — for prednisolone acetate eye drops, a medication commonly used to treat eye inflammation and allergic conditions. The recall applies to 2,530,182 bottles of prednisolone acetate ophthalmic suspension manufactured by Lupin Limited, an Indiana-based pharmaceutical company that specializes in generic drugs.   • Heart and kidney medication | The Food and Drug Administration has issued a report warning that nearly a million bottles of medication – at least 944,142 – have been recalled nationwide. The affected drugs include Corlanor, a medication prescribed to treat chronic heart failure, and Sensipar, a drug used to treat chronic kidney disease, among other conditions – two brand-name prescription medications made by the biotech company Amgen. VEHICLES RECALLED

  • Ford | Ford is recalling more than 250,000 vehicles that were incorrectly repaired under a previous recall meant to fix a problem that caused the engine to stall while driving. The recall includes 255,404 Ford Focus automobiles, model years 2012-2018. Ford said the canister purge valve may malfunction, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of crash and injury. Click here to learn more. Additionally, Ford is recalling more than 741,000 vehicles in the U.S. because a transmission issue may damage the park system, which could increase the risk of a crash or injury.   • Subaru | Subaru of America is recalling more than 541,000 of its Crosstrek, Forester, and Ascent SUVs due to an inaccurate label attached to the vehicles. According to a notice published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this week, the now-recalled vehicles were made with a certification label that incorrectly states their gross axle weight rating, or GAWR, which reflects the maximum weight that each axle of a vehicle can support.   • Honda | Honda is recalling more than 325,000 vehicles because of a rearview camera issue that could increase the risk of a crash. According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, water may enter rearview cameras on certain 2018-2020 Odyssey vehicles, “which can cause the rearview camera image to fail to display when the vehicle is in reverse.” Click here to learn more.   • Kia | Kia America has issued a new recall for nearly 463,000 of its Telluride SUVs, urging owners to again park their vehicles outside and away from buildings after several customers reported fires following previous repairs. The recall replaces a prior one Kia initiated in 2024. Certain Tellurides from the 2020-2024 model years are affected, with the NHTSA warning that the front power seat motor of these vehicles may overheat due to a stuck slide knob.
