Monsoon storms & flooding threats

Abundant monsoon moisture combines with an easterly wave to produce good chances for rain across the state through the weekend into next week. The most likely areas for localized heavy rainfall and flooding would be across southern and western New Mexico. However, any monsoon thunderstorm is capable of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. The least likely area to see rain would be over far northeastern New Mexico. Temperatures will slowly climb to above seasonal averages by mid-next week. Remember, always avoid arroyos, ditches, and water-covered roads.
