A Clovis man is facing federal charges after making threatening comments in response to a 2026 Lubbock Pride event Facebook post. On June 27, Michael Kenneth Thompson, 44, allegedly posted threatening comments on Facebook in response to a post made by the Lubbock-Avalanche-Journal Facebook page.Thompson allegedly made comments referencing the event as “target practice” and “hunting season”. He also commented that he did not need help but “just more ammo!”Thompson’s Facebook account was able to be tracked down through an anonymous tip, and his activity was traced to Clovis, New Mexico.Law enforcement contacted Thompson, who admitted to making the comments but later deleted them. He was subsequently arrested by the FBI at his residence in Clovis on June 28.Thompson is charged with interstate threatening communications and will remain in custody until his detention hearing on July 1. If convicted, Thompson faces five years in prison.
