Possible landspout tornado causes damage in Los Lunas

Date:

VIDEO SHOWING THE ACTION AND THE DAMAGE LEFT BEHIND. IT’S JUST AFTER 330 ON THURSDAY, A POSSIBLE LANDSPOUT TORNADO RIPPING ACROSS I-25, SLAMMING THROUGH LOS LUNAS. THIS DASH CAM VIDEO SHOWING ITS SIZE THEN SPARKS ERUPT AFTER IT HITS POWER LINES HAPPENING NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE. EVERYTHING WAS GOING SMOOTH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, STARTED FLICKERING. THEN WE HEARD LIKE A VERY LOUD NOISE, A DEL TACO PARKING LOT IS JUST ONE OF THE PLACES WHERE THERE’S STILL DEBRIS LEFT BEHIND. THESE ARE PIECES OF TIN. WE’RE TOLD THAT SOMEBODY WAS ACTUALLY IN THAT DRIVE THROUGH. AND THESE PIECES OF TIN ACTUALLY HIT THEIR VEHICLE. THEY WERE TRAPPED INSIDE, HAD TO BE RESCUED BY FIREFIGHTERS. SOMEHOW, DESPITE TREMENDOUS ODDS. AND THEN THE BUILDING STRUCTURE IS FINE. WE STILL ACTUALLY HAVE POWER TOO, EVEN THOUGH IT HIT THE POWER LINES ON THE VIDEO ALL ACROSS THE VILLAGE, CREWS RACING TO CLEAN UP THE DAMAGE. BROKEN TREE LIMBS, COTTONWOOD BRANCHES AND DEBRIS THROWN IN EVERY DIRECTION. AT LOS LUNAS HIGH SCHOOL, BATTING CAGE NETS ARE NOW TWISTED HIGH UP INTO LIGHT POLES, A STUNNING SIGN OF JUST HOW POWERFUL THE WINDS WERE. HERE’S ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF DAMAGE. YOU SEE THIS ROCK? WELL, IT’S ACTUALLY ONE OF MANY THAT FLEW THROUGH ONE SIDE OF THE WINDOW AND CAME OUT OF THIS SIDE. YOU CAN SEE PIECES OF THAT WINDOW HERE ON THE GROUND. WE’RE TOLD THAT A FAMILY WAS ACTUALLY INSIDE, AND THANKFULLY THEY’RE ALL OKAY TONIGHT. THIS CAR NOW WRAPPED IN PLASTIC, ITS WINDOWS BLOWN OUT, GLASS SHATTERED THROUGHOUT THE INSIDE. AND AMID THE CLEANUP, A FAINT RAINBOW STRETCHED ACROSS THE SKY. IF YOU GUYS DO SEE A BIG STORM LIKE THIS, TAKE SHELTER. BE SAFE. STAY IN YOUR CARS. RU
